Take Me Out to the Ball Game!

It’s the summer, the kids are out of school, and you’re looking for a way to keep them entertained without blowing out the budget. Why not take them down to BB&T Ballpark for a Charlotte Knights game?

Professional baseball of some sort has been in the Queen City since 1901, but it’s moved around many places within the greater Charlotte area over the years. At times the Knights played in the Dilworth area, then spent nearly a decade in Fort Mill/Tega Cay until they moved into their state of the art stadium in Uptown Charlotte three years ago.

Before entering BB&T ballpark, it’s wise to take in the scenes at Romare Bearden Park, a lush, very green spot to soak in the scenes of Uptown Charlotte before enjoying a baseball game. If you have kids, Romare Bearden offers sprinklers and a mini water park that allows them to burn off some excess energy before they enter the game.

Inside the stadium, there are plenty of amenities, and Homer the Knight will greet your kids and pose for pictures. The seats are comfortable and there are spaces for groups events at the park that you can rent. The food is extravagant, with the standard pricing model you find at stadiums and ballparks.

Moreover, the experience during the game is immersive, with sounds and animations to go along with the action. Between innings, the in-game staff of the Knights keep everything nice and light, occasionally allowing kids to run the bases, and after some games there are fireworks. If you’re looking for a lot of bang for your buck on a summer night, you can’t do much better than going to a Knights game.
